Introduction

Welcome to the Blog of Snooperazzi which has been fifty years in the making. Upon graduation from college in 1975, my dad encouraged me to research our family history. Once I started, I was hooked and the journey began. I never thought about quitting even when information was slowly trickling in….waiting for a response in the mail. Decades before the evolution of the internet and more recently AI that enables me to receive information within seconds.

My hope is that you will enjoy learning about the family history I discovered. I will be writing about the Hayes/Hoffmeier familes–Anna Jo’s heritage and the Kirchgassner/Nordmeyer families–Robert’s ancestors. The majority of the my writing will be based on facts and backed up by historical records. When there is speculation on my part, I will inform you.

This format will be beneficial to all of us. There will be room to add additional information in the comment section. Or if any of you desire, please feel free to submit to me information about our family that I can share with everyone. For example, Susie Roell, knows some life details of Anna Murray Hayes, our great grandmother who raised Grandma Bessie that I was unaware.

There are so many people that I encountered over the past fifty years that helped me locate the data. One person, Chris McHenry, who researched Dearborn County History and reported her findings in the Dearborn County Register. She left behind a rich legacy of local history that many readers will enjoy in the generations that follow.

Lastly, you all know how life rolls and things occur that you had not planned on…..but I recently returned from a trip to Florida with Daniel and Robyn Kirchgassner, Karen Geis, Kathy Hartman, and Sarah Schaeffler. We stayed close to Key West in a beautiful house on the ocean. Seeing the full moon over the Atlantic Ocean and the night sky showing the Big Dipper, I remembered how much Dad loved this part of nature. Combine this with knowing that Ernest Hemingway wrote “The Green Hills of Africa” while living in Key West, the desire to share family history with all evolved into the beginnings of “Snooperazzi.”
